BIPEC hosts Forum to meet the candidates for the Third District Congressional race

On Tuesday, BIPEC hosted a forum in Jackson with all of the Republican candidates for the Third District Congressional race. Those invited included:

Sally Doty, Michael Guest, Whit Hughes, Perry Parker, Morgan Dunn, Katherine Tate, Michael Evans, and Michael Aycox.

Candidates seeking Gregg Harper’s seat stump on economy, healthcare

Candidates running for Mississippi’s 3rd District U.S. House seat being vacated by Rep. Gregg Harper stuck to the usual themes of economic development, health care and infrastructure while speaking to an influential business group Tuesday.

Harper announced in January that he is not running for reelection. A crowded field is seeking to claim his seat — six Republican candidates and two Democrats (a state representative and a police officer).

Teen pleads guilty in death of boy found in stolen car

JACKSON, Miss. – A Mississippi teen pleaded guilty Monday to reduced charges and agreed to testify against his co-defendants in the killing of a 6-year-old boy who authorities say was asleep in a car when it was stolen from a supermarket parking lot.

D’Allen Washington, 18, entered the plea to accessory after the fact to the kidnapping of Kingston Frazier, as well as to an unrelated robbery charge, before Madison County Circuit Judge William Chapman.
